Good Shabbos!!!

The day Hashem created the world, the 25th of Elul is this Shabbos!

Here is what i saw on Orit Riter daily dose of emunah:

"There is a custom that I learned from Rav Mansour shlit'a regarding the 25th of Elul, this coming Shabbat..

1.Bring sweets home in particular this Shabbat, to hasten a sweet New Year.

2. Do not get angry in particular on this day, we shouldn't anyway as it is Shabbat kodesh.

3. Before lighting the Shabbat candles light 5 tea candles, one for each time the word "ohr (light)" is mentioned in the telling of the story of creation and B'H may our homes be filled with this holy light.

4.  Lastly, every day beginning on Shabbat read the Torah verses in sefer Bereishis th    at coincides with each day of creation; on Shabbat read the verses that describe the creation of the first day, on Sunday read the verses that describe the creation of the second day, and so on."

Reminder: This Monday iyH we will be meeting to finish our review from the past few months.

See last two posts for details.

WOW, can't wait to speak to you in the newly created world!

Love, aviva rus

ELUL Day #3

"ANI  L'DODI  V'DODI  LI"

I am to my Beloved and my Beloved is to me-

Look around.  Ask to see Hashem in your life in a clear way.

He is right here, right now, wanting to answer you, to have a relationship with you.

Take advantage of this time period (please!)!!!

Rosh Chodesh seudah

I just read this on Divrei Chaim blog and had to share it!

In Tanach the only meal we see portrayed is the Rosh Chodesh meal (not Shabbos or yom Tov; Shmuel I ch 20).

Why?

Shem Mishmuel explains that each month corresponds to a shevet (12 shevatim/tribes) and each shevet has a specific avodah that is easier to achieve at certain time in the year.

Yaakov Avinu, after blessing each shevet individually, gathered them as a group, and gave them eachothers talents to use as a group.

Our ACHDUS (unconditional love;) allows for our individual gifts (yeud) to shine.

The seudah of Shabbos/yom tov is a siman that makes us aware of the holiness of the day.

The seudah of Rosh Chodesh is a sibah; it CREATES the achdus that transforms individual proclamation of self to a celebration for all of Klal Yisrael!

Let's celebrate, aviva rus

Chodesh Tov!!

ELUL...

Rabbi Nivin says it's a month of introspection and planning for how to live the year with vitality.  (join his chaburah starting today for more info on how to make an Elul plan and find your yeud and tikun)

Rebbetzin Heller states that the spiritual energy of Elul is longing and yearning.  How do we use this energy?

We can yearn for a closer relationship with Hashem and begin searching inside of ourselves for where we missed the mark over the past year.  The Rebbetzin adds that we should give tzedaka daily and say Tehillim kapital 27 daily. (join her chaburah starting today on how to get the most out of Elul)

So, bottom line; introspect, tzedaka, tehillim, and make a plan.

Use the six minutes to speak this out.

Call one of your tripod to discuss it.

Remember, be gentle to yourself.  It is the desire to do and taking the step that counts.  Results are all up to Hashem.

Excited for the next step, aviva rus

ps Thank you Shira for offering and figuring out a way to make the recordings of our chaburah accessible on the computer.

HODU L'HASHEM KI TOV; GRATITUDE

It's been 16 + months of treatment for Benny (Binyamin Chaim Ben Faigie Sarah), months filled with tears,  takanos,  and tefilos.

Hashem has answered.

YES.

The gift of a yes.

Gratitude.

Yet, in the same way pain and worry could not be expressed in words properly, so too, gratitude.  Only tefilos and actions seem to open up the world between speech and spiritual connection to one another and to Hashem.

In the first pasuk of this week's parsha, Re'eh, "See, I present before you today a blessing and a curse"(11-26)

Sforno states that Moshe Rabbeinu is pointing out that we are not like any other nations.  The blessings that Hashem promises us are so extraordinary that they appear miraculous, so too, the ordeals, if we ignore our spiritual calling, will appear on the opposite end of the spectrum.

There is no mediocrity in this picture.  Striving to achieve; yields miraculous blessing.

We are approaching Elul.

Last year, at this time, we had inspiring plans floating through our mind, ideas of who we wanted to be when Rosh Hashana arrived.

Let's reflect and remember that vision.

Now, let's take the gratitude we feel, and live that vision (even just a small part of it).

This is the power of gratitude; choice to make that intense and lasting change to be who we really are, so that more miraculous blessing can rain down on Binyamin Chaim and his family, and on all of Klal Yisrael.

Good Shabbos,

THANK YOU HASHEM
